Jesse Gabriel Case Study
In 2018, a State Assembly seat representing portions of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley became vacant and a special election was called. In a highly unusual situation, the special general election would occur simultaneously to the regular primary, and Gabriel would have to be on the ballot three times in 9 weeks. At the time, numerous high-profile candidates were rumored as possible contenders for the seat. Jesse Gabriel was a first-time candidate with no name ID but an amazing story, and we were able to collectively build such a large coalition of support that almost every major candidate chose to not run. Gabriel trounced the field, and ultimately prevailed in all three elections in just a 9 week span, and showed himself to be such an impactful candidate that he was named to the Assembly leadership almost instantly after he took office.
