Jessica Perez is a Senior Campaign Strategist and Creative Director at J&Z Strategies.
Perez's scope of work is far-reaching, and includes producing creative and managing political campaigns, issue advocacy and ballot measure accounts in several states. Her skills range from creative development for digital, television, and direct mail advertising to graphic design, overseeing political strategy of various client accounts to strategic communications, public relations and more.
Perez has been the firm's lead strategist for a number of clients - from winning several big city ballot measures to overseeing statewide campaign political outreach programs to producing top-notch advertising in some of the nations hardest-fought, most expensive, and biggest red-to-blue flips, including, Harley Rouda for Congress and Christy Smith for California State Assembly, as well as for groundbreaking campaigns like Ricardo Lara for California Insurance Commissioner, who made history as the state's first-ever openly gay statewide elected leader.
Prior to joining J&Z Strategies, Perez served as U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman's Political and Finance Director. Before working for Congressman Sherman, she served as Campaign Manager for Long Beach City Councilmember Dee Andrews' write-in campaign for re-election. Making history, Andrews won with 51.03% of the vote, the first-ever write-in candidate in the City of Long Beach to win a primary election outright.
A native of Alabama, Perez graduated from Rhodes College, in Tennessee, with a degree in Commerce and Business.
